Question about TM900 - 1080p50 -> Final Cut Pro
 

Quick question, and sorry for asking it, as I'm sure others have asked before (but I still couldn't find a good answer):

- What's the best way to get 1080p50 files into Final Cut Pro?

I read about ClipWrap, but that's 50$. Are there any free options out there? (If so are they equally good, or should I just buy ClipWrap or something else?)

I've read that Clipwrap WON'T YET help you get 1080p50 files from the Panny TM700/900 series etc. (and no doubt the Sony CX550, 700 etc.) into Final Cut Pro. Hopefully that will change soon - but I'd hold onto that $50 for now. I've read of a few complicated workarounds - but for now I just use Vegas on my Windows box instead when editing my TM900's stuff. Works well.

The 28Mbps 1080p50/60 format is catching on fast so surely other NLE's will support it soon. Maybe someone has a good solution to share for FCP on Mac that works now - anyone?

Thanks for the answers.

Just tried Remux, and while it made the video watchable, there was some problems with the audio at least (possibly video too, didn't check too closely yet).

ClipWrap (trial) converted the footage fine it seems, and I got it nicely into FCP X. Haven't gotten to play much around with it yet, but will.

So, so far ClipWrap probably works, free Remux seemed less good.

Edit: The ClipWrap-file would not conform in CinemaTools, though, as it complained about "temporal compression". After a run through Compressor (ProRes), it worked.

Edit2: Handbrake also seem to work! Handbrake it to m4v, then through Compressor and then Cinema Tools... :p Clumsy workflow if so, so hoping to find a way to skip a step there. (Haven't tested with sound on either, as that is clearly not my main focus when slowing down these clips.)
