I am very impressed by Panasonic! Although my association with Sony cameras is deep, Panasonic seems to be moving toward enhancing the value of its products in contrast to Sony that seems to be defeaturing the VG20 at the same time. Well done Panasonic!

And when you start looking at this more deeply, this seems more than competitive with Canon XF300.

- 22x zoom lens
- 3 selectable ND

No 4:2:2 mxf codec, but I think I would have to choose 1080/60p over 4:2:2, as a feature.

If the images are good, at this price point, a brilliant value.

Comparable with the XF305, really . . . at nearly $3k less!
however, doesn't have that gorgeous LCD. But you could get monitor for $500-900.
I don't think it has the stops on focus and zoom either.

After using a 305 on loan for 2 weeks, i was looking at the AC160 as a cheaper alternative.

AG-160 only?

What about AG-130?

Compare and choose. ;-)

Re: Ag-ac160 1080/50p (60p)

Keep in mind, even the AG-ac160 does not do the 1080/60p/50p now, it's a promised free upgrade in March 2012. That's a long ways off and a lot can happen between now and then. Not sure if rushing to buy a 160 before you need it is a good idea, particularly if you need 1080/60p/50p immediately.
