HMC40/80 auto-iris EV adjustment

Hi Guys

Never been able to figure this one out at all. On the HMC40 (and HMC80) you can have the camera in auto iris (even in manual too, auto iris is available) Even though the camera is in auto, you can "trim" the iris (open or close it) to apply much the same as an EV value on a DSLR camera so if the autoiris adjusts to say F3 you can make in F4 and it will apply the extra stop as it adjusts (well, AFAIK it does)

Now as it's auto they is no screen indication of the Fstop value or the offset amount you have added or subtracted so what I have never found out is, does this EV value stay applied until the camera is turned off??? or does it go back to a zero EV setting when the auto iris circuitry sees a new light level. I have only ever used it at weddings where the light level isn't going to change much and the camera is static...once the ceremony is over I shut down one camera and just continue with the second camera.

Anyone know the answer for this???? The manual says nothing !!

Chris
