Can't remove zebra

Need advice on removing zebra. I was using x920 and shooting a wedding scene with a sunlit lake in the background. The focus was in the shade of a gazebo. I had to zoom in to get rid of the lake, but wanted it in the shot. The lake was just too bright. I tried using every combination of shutter and Iris.

Re: Can't remove zebra

Do you mean that you want the zebra stripes feature disabled so they won't show up at all on the viewfinder, even if there is overexposure?
Or do you want to have a better overall exposure between dark and bright? If you have too much incoming light you need to use a nd filter, that will result in allowing you to use a standard shutter for more natural looking motion but it will not deal with harsh contrasts, camera's like the x920 don't have the dynamic range to deal with large brightness differences, the only thing you could do is use a polarizing filter that darkens only a part of the image, like the sunlit lake in your case allowing you to get a better overall exposure.

I don't want to disable the zebra feature. I'm trying to reduce or eliminate the overexposure of the lake in the background. I'm using a Mennon rectangular hood and don't have a way of attaching a filter.

Not much you can do then if you can't use a appropriate filter.

You'll need to use an ND filter for those bright days when shooting outside.

You could also use a graduated ND filter if you can position the lake in the right place of the frame. Those require a more complicated filter holder or a matte box though.
