Another question for Allan
 

Allan, heading to Tokyo this weekend for some shopping and wanna pick up a rain cover for my cam and some filters and the like, do you know of any worthy stores in the Shibuya area of Minato-ku?

If you're just looking for accessories, stick with the big stores..Bic Camera, Yodobashi Camera, Sakuraya. As much as possible, check out their main stores first since their smaller branches usually don't carry hard to find(and sell) accessories. Prices of accessories are practically the same everywhere (approx. 80% of list price). Also, I suggest you go beyond Shibuya and Minato-ku area as most big electronic stores are within 20 to 45 minutes away by Metro or elevated trains.

Bic Camera Stores: Ikebukuro Station East (Seibu) Exit; Shinjuku Station West Exit; Yuurakucho Station (right beside the station in what was previously Sogo Dept. Store); Shibuya Station Hachiko Exit

Yodobashi Camera: Shinjuku Station West Exit

Sakuraya Stores: Shinjuku Station West Exit, Shinjuku Station East Exit, Ikebukuro Station East Exit, Shibuya Station Hachiko Exit.

Very important tips:

Use the big store's point (card) system. You can get the point card for free.

Even with the point card system, none of the big stores can match the prices of discount shops for the cam itself. However, most discount shops don't take credit card and dealing with them may not be easy for visitors. Note that you should call the discount shop first to confirm price (listed in kakaku or rakuten or gaz), availability and your intention to order. Please ask the hotel staff for assistance in this regard.

Bottom line, if you want to get the cam for around $1,100, you must find those discount shops, but for accessories, go to the big stores.
