See what good light can do.

here are some frame grabs from my mx-500.
I am pretty pleased with the performance of this camera. it is so small and compact and easy to use and quite consistant results. Most of these photos had reasonable light with exception to those of the birds and the frogs. the frogs by memory was full open plus about 6db. quite reasonable i think. the noise is not too severe. just in case anyone wonders these are actual frame grabs done through premiere and some of them have been later deinterlaced through photoshop as we all know the problems of jagged edges if we pause and have interlaced footage. I hope you enjoy. Just click on the thumbnails for the full size images. Please forgive me as the website was a quick rush and i made it today. i hope to later put some compressed video from this camera. I can tell you now that this camera puts it up to even some of the broadcast camera's in good light. My dad has a JVC KY-25 2/3 inch 3ccd camera with 16x lense and all the fruits of a broadcast camera and my camera at most times equals this and always has a sharper picture. This camera was worth somewhere around $80000 aus 10 years ago. he uses it without the svhs portapack and has a sony digital 8 camcorder on the back as the recorder so is recording in digital.

I will sometime see if i can get hold of my brothers nikon d100 and get comparison photos of the same objects just to see the difference and will hopefully post on the website

Nice shots, Justin. For some reason, the frog pix gives me a page not found error when clicked. I'll bet Major Mitchel and Eastern King would make a colorful movie!

BTW, you can imbed the link in your post so people can click it this way:

Nice pics. Excuse me for my ignorance. What would be the U.S. equivalent model number for the MX-500?

Hi Justin,
Thanks for the grabs,
As Guy mentioned full size Frog and Liquid Amber pics not there.
Could be geocities flaw as Eastern King wasn't there initially for me and then it reappeared on reload.

Hi Fred,
I believe:
NV-MX5000 in Japan
NV-MX500 (or NV-MX500B, don't know what is the difference) in Europe (Pal)
PV-DV953 in USA

Try it now guys. that was my fault set them up wrong few mistypes. oh well i thought that i checked them all must have forgotten to save. anyway i will try doing similar photos on frame mode so that i don't have to deinterlace the frames because while it is alright on moving footage it seems to distort the image somewhat. thanks for your replies.

Justin
