MX500 recording from external source

I can't believe it.

Today I went to record some video from a wireless camera (aboard a model airplane) and found that there's seemingly *no* way to do so unless you've remembered to bring the remote control with you -- and of course I forgot mine :-(

Surely they could have designed this camera so that the record button (or a combination of record and play) would work in the VCR mode as well as camera mode???

Heaven help me if I lose the remote :-)

That's why it's called a remote. I have often used my remote for the DVL9500---it's very handy. I always keep my remotes in my Lowpro Nova 5 cam bag. If a remote breaks or gets lost, you can always buy another one.

From quite a few years back, the Panasonic cams VCR record has been activated from the RC. Please bring it everywhere.

BTW, although the button battery used in the standard Panasonic RC is thin, I have been stuffing thicker ones of the same voltage and it works fine. Why do that? I have endless supply of button batteries from computer mainboards, which is the same voltage but thicker!

Yes, I agree that it can be a handy feature -- but it would still be nice if there was a manual option and I can't for the life of me see why they haven't provided this.

I have the same problem with my Sony TV sets. The original TV remote has facility for changing the contrast, brightness, color satutration and sharpness of the picture -- but the dual-function remote that came with the Sony VCR will do everything-but alter those settings.

This means that every time I reposition the TV set I have to go hunting for that little TV remote to adjust for the change in ambient lighting.

Interesting, so a CR2032 from a motherboard will work in the Panasonic remotes?
