Get a consumer Pana 3chipper or other brands?

I need a 2nd camera as a backup for my DVX100. I expect to use it also at weddings, as an unmanned cam. Are any of the Panasonic's consumer line offerings better than the GL2 or TRV900 or PDX100? Am I correct in that all the Pannys has got 1/6 CCDs.. if that's so, then it's unfortunate.

Yang, I wouldn't consider a cam with 1/6", 1/4.7" and 1/4" CCDs for weddings.

No, my Pana 3-chip are 1/4" and the DVX100 are 1/3".

Can you find a DVC80. It has the gutz of a DVX100 without the 24peeeeeeeeee. It's a goooooooooooooooood camera.

it's $2100

I don't know how they would intercut but a VX2000 is cheap like borcht and has fantastic low light.

Maybe B&H still have some JVC JY-DV300's left. Also good and even cheaper. Yow, one of our members has one for weddings and chuch stuff. (Both the DVC80 and DV300 have 1/3" CCDs.)

One thing got me worried two weeks ago: B&H seems not to be an authorized Panasonic dealer. So the Panasonic products they sell should then be qualified as "grey" goods. Is that so?

I read Jan Crittenden's comments about this on another forum, explaining on the problems you had when you had to repair a Panasonic product when it wasn't bought from an authorized dealer. Jan works for Panasonic.

How do we know for sure if a certain shop is an authorized dealer or not for certain brands?

The worry is because I have been dealing with B&H for more than 10 years, and I wasn't aware they weren't Panasonic dealers. Apparently that would explain the better prices they can offer.
