Keep in mind that if you live in Brazil, which uses PAL, buy yourself a NTSC model, such as the PV-DV953, MX5000 or GS100. Have a nice day. :-))

PS: in area, Brazil is larger than Australia. :-))

Brasil does not look to big like Canada in my atlas. Why is it pal and have to use ntsc North America tv system?

well see now no one told me there was a Cr_p version of PAL which emulates NTSC hehehe

Yeah, a PAL system but NTSC cams are used. So, you say PAL is better? I think so. When you view PAL on a (PAL) TV it's like high res widescreen compared with our standard.

Unfortunately we are not smarter. It's difficult for people to understand, but the broadcasting system here is PAL-M, which is not really PAL.

A PAL system is 625 lines/50Hz, but the PAL-M is 525 lines/60Hz based. What they do on transmission is send more information on the signal, which compensates for early reflections due to geographical obstacles (mountains, buildings, etc.). But it's fairly easy to transcode a PAL-M signal into an NTSC one.

In the past I shot several projects in PAL-M (1" and 3/4"), but since Betacam arrived production was standardized in NTSC. Which got things better in many aspects, even if it would have been great to move to a real PAL.

Hopefully things should get better in the future, which seems to be walking to a universal system. System should only be addressed for older TV sets.

All Brazilian TVs and VCRs are dual-system.
