Century Optics' wide screen magnifier

I've been shooting video with only 16:9 for over a couple of years and GS400 not been able to display 16:9 while shooting is a shame. You can't be as creative when the monitor is not displaying in the correct ratio, especially when you twisting the camera, it is hard to keep the objective in the center.

Since GS400 has 3.5 inch LCD, Century Optics wide screen LCD magnifier does not work, but they told me that they are making 3.5 inch version now.

Yes, I'm thrilled. This should make DVX100 and DVC30 useres happy, too. They said 40 to 60 days.

That's very interesting news indeed. I should be recieving my GS400 any day now, but I'm a little concerned about the LCD not displaying 16:9 properly.

Kaku do you have an idea of what this would cost?

The smaller one sells for $200 at B&H, so don't expect it to be cheap...

They are aiming this product more for DVX100 series, so Boyd is right, it is not going to be cheap.

You mean GS400 can only display 4:3 letterbox format in LCD monitor when shotting in 16:9 widescreen mode?

Thanks!

The GS400 just displays the 16:9 picture streched to fit on the 4:3 LCD. So for instance normal heads become "egg-heads".
But IMHO this is not too bad, as u don't waste some of these (always too less) pixels on your LCD screen and can recognise more details in the picture. Although I think there could be a switch to change the LCD's aspect ratio.
