Very nice photos - Leigh. The GS400 does very well in closeups. Also on video I've noticed. Here's 2 links I googled about testing if interested

http://www.tvcameramen.com/studio/utz02a.htm
The first link has download links for test charts.

the video...

OK, awesome pictures, but how does the video look, especially in comparison to other video cameras?

Here are a couple pics from online reviews of the Canon 20D D-SLR for comparison. HOpefully in the coming weeks I'll have more time to put my 20D thru the paces.

I think I will settle with my GS400 and wait another five years to buy a DSLR full size CCD as 35mm. 8 )

Why wait, the $7000 Canon 1DS will let you enjoy the a 35mm equivalent CMOS today!

I don't really have a problem with the 1.6x multiplier as I have a 17-85mm lens which is the equivalent of 27-136mm in 35mm FOV. Besides, I have three young children that won't wait on an affordable 1DS or the slow refresh times of camcorder stills. The 5fps of the 20D can almost keep up with my 3 year old daughter (almost).
