MX Boxing Day Buy

Here's your chance! Allan has a mint (used) MX3000 for sale. He's asking $1200 US. This price includes shipping. The details are posted on the Private Classifieds forum. (Now that's good bang for the buck!)

I wonder if anyone here would be interested in a used (16mth old , hobby use only) PAL MX300?
If and when I finally check out the MX500 and if I then decide that it is worth 'upgrading' I will be looking for a buyer of this much cared for little marvel... :-)

Apologies to all if I have violated any forum rules here...

Angry,

There's one fellow who e-mailed me looking for a PAL MX300. Could you please e-mail me, so I have your e-mail address handy on my e-mail program? I broke my right pinky last evening, and even typing this causes me pain. (I was lying on the carpet, stretching, and my wife tripped or something and bam! her heel managed to crush my finger. Man, I don't wish this on anyone. Luckily, I only spent 2 hours in the hospital, and the x-ray only shows one break at my small knuckle.

Yes, 'upgrading' should be in quotes. There are some things better and some things worse.

G'day Frank!
Hope the finger is getting a little less sore - man that sounds painful!

I still haven't had the chance to check out the MX500 as yet, although
they are now back in stock at Tasman AV.
I did have a quick look at one in Micheals Camera store in Elizabeth St
Melbourne but the conditions were not right for a test of any sort. I
did get to compare the MX500 viewfinder and flip-out screen directly
with my MX300 though and I wasn't that impressed with the MX500 - the
flip out screen whilst it actually looked a little brighter than my
MX300 (unexpected as I had heard it was dimmer!) it was not as clear
(larger pixels I guess?) and was very dependent on viewing angle - just
like my old TRV900 screen - it goes into a sort of 'negative' view at
certain angles...
The MX300 flip out is not subject to this acute angle viewing problem
which is kinda strange as the brochures for both the '500 & '300 say the
flip-out is the same 'polycrystalline-silicon' construction...

Also I thought (this was just a quick 30 sec test) that the viewfinder
of the MX500 was a little more 'pixelated' - the image did not seem as
fine as the image in the MX300's finder...

So I still hope to get to Tasman AV sooon and spend a lot more time
doing some meaningful comparisons.
I hope by the time I get there that the MX550 has not been released! :-)

Best wishes for the New Year!
