MX5000 vs TRV950

Hi guys,

Here's a review/comparison of both TRV950 and MX5000 for your reference:

(it's in Chinese but you can still click on those images to see the difference/quality)

Thanks. Are those stills or video grabs?

Hi,

Those images are capture in video mode and save to memory (640x480), both cams were set to full-auto mode.

In the second image (dragon), MX5000 provides more saturated and eye-catching image. However, with Sony's 14-bit DXP, TRV950 is able to exhibit more dynamic range (look at those trees especially darker areas).

According to the review, TRV950 is more 'intelligient' in full-auto, especially its white-balance (third image with a lady).

MX5000 produces warmer images that TRV950 under 50W bright yellow light.

For the 5th image comparison, MX5000 introduced more 'noise' even at 12db gain, whereas TRV950 18db gain (max) is cleaner and brighter.

Overall, both are good camcorder, but TRV950 is slightly better under low-light condition.

Personally, I think MX5000 is a good buy.

Thanks for the explainations. Bablefish works so slow in my old computer.

I had a feeling that the TRV950 would be a hair better with lux. Personally, at this point in time, if I needed a new cam, and like right now, I'd strongly consider the MX5000. (Cost for me would also be a factor.) But I know that this summer, there might be something better out---perhaps from Pana or Sony, and perhaps even by Canon. One never knows....
