Looks cool....But no OIS...

Looks like a response to that nifty little sony with the lcd on the back.

Yes, very pretty, and small enough for your pocket or purse. As I find more info, I'll keep adding their links. Something my wife would like.

A 3CCD GX7 but with 1/6"CCDs (46K x 3, 29K x 3 effective).....mmmm... a very intriguing offering by Pany. Will the less dense CCD make up for its 1/6" size in terms of low light performance? Will the lesser resolution decrease the sharpness of video (the GX7 is damn sharp!).
The size looks like a sure winner to me (at least in Japan). |
Hi, just got back from 1 week break for the Chinese New Year Holidays here in Singapore.
Also met up with Steven Khong in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which is my homebase. Back to the point, seems like Panasonic is seriously aggresive in the Japanese market, offering good colours (3CCD) on a home cam. However, I prefer heavier cams, and between the MX series and this new GS70K, I'll probably stick to the MX. The body of the GS70 is remarkably similar to other GS cams (3, 5 and 7). The lens and filter doesn't look big. With smaller lens, 1/4" or 1/6" CCDs will be very important. Hopefully more specs will be released soon. I will alos be looking out for zebra, mic adjust and picture adjust for semi-pro use. Else, I'll recommend this to serious home-users. Still, this cam will be a great winner to those looking for small, compact sized cam, with 3CCD colours and performance. I'm actually glad that Panasonic is bringing quality to the masses. |
From the limited chinese characters in the japanese itself, these are 3 x 1/6 chip per 460 000(still)/ 290 000(video) pixels. The picture quality should be very close to the MX500.
The Aperture is F1.8 instead of F1.6. The pic would be slightly darker than, say MX300/350/500. But two good things would be that 37mm len filter, there to take advantage of vast Sony lenses out the market. Another would be the smaller 2.5 LCD, less battery consumption, thus longer usage!! Personally I think it look great! An upgraded version of GX7. But to think of it, Pana's coming out more new model than the market can possibly consume.... |
PV-DV70
Do you think this camcorder in the link below is the same as the NV-GS70K?
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/news_panasonic_pvdv70_2003_03_03.htm I'm really hyped on this small 3ccd cam. |
Yes, it does seem to be a good little cam. I'm guessing it's playback would be around 480 horizontal lines, with the stabilizer off.
For new cam info, I always check Vincent Chan's site first. He's really good about posting info about new cams. His site can be found on my links page, the second link up top: http://www.dvfreak.com/links.htm |
