What tripod for MX?

Hey people, what's your tripod setup with your MX cam? Mine's a Manfrotto 075B with the 136 head. It works well, but it's a bit of an overkill in way of weight. It's not easy to lug around. What do you use?

I've got a Manfrotto 075B legs like you, Frank, and a Manfrotto video head 128 RC (one step down from yours).

The legs aren't that heavy actually, it's the HEAD that's the killer heavyweight.

I get smooth pans and tilts (no jerks) with tension adjustment.

It's got a removable tripod bush. I wish they'll make one that detaches from the screw easily so that I can quickly detach & change tapes. Woe to all who have a MX300 & MX350 - the curse of bottom tape loading :(
It also comes with a removable handle, so you can change it depending on your being right or left handed.

The legs: I have a quibble - the 075B legs have a sort of thumbscrew to lock the sections of the legs. Sometimes in a hurry my strap gets caught on the thumbscrew :( Sometimes in a hurry I expect gravity to pull all the legs down equally - but one of them gets stuck so it's shorter... I discovered this to my shock & horror when I panned & the horizon tilted :(

But the legs are nice: It stands about 5feet tall, and if you pull up the middle "neck" piece it will be about 5 feet 6". And it can do splits (3 positions) so you can get really low on the ground. And you can reverse the middle "neck" piece so it gets your cam closer to the ground.

I've had an accident before: quickly putting the legs together after being in "split" mode, my hand's skin (between thumb & first finger) got caught in between the head & the legs - OUCH!

Your 075B legs aren't that heavy? They weight 9.9 pounds. That's a bit overkill for a lil ol' MX300!

PS: you're a smart man, Steven (since we share the same taste in legs).
