Video effective CCD pixels

Boy, there sure are a lot of different video effective CCD pixel counts. Look at these:

Panasonic NV-GS70 - 290K
Canon GL2 - 380K
Panasonic NV-MX5000 - 640K
Sony TRV950 - 690K

I'm curious, why so low with the GS70?

Oh, I forgot the MX3000. It's 310K video effective. The PAL version is higher, of course.
