Which is better? aiming for image quality..
which cam shoots more "filmic"?

DVX100 is as close to film as you can get right now. The JVC HD camera ( I assume you mean the consumer camera) has lots of resolution but still looks like video.

Has anyone posted full-rez clips from the JVC - the stills from NAB looked pretty bad, but that was not much of test.

HD is still its its early days, i dont think that we will be seeing much of it until prices come down.
In "prices" i mean consumer level televisions which can display a HD image as well as storage..
at the moment, the prices are too high for the average Jo, so there really is no point in jumpin on the wagon until it establishes itself as a viable format.

it is a shame they don't have 3ccd hd cams for independent market, lowest price i've been able to find was around $20,000, keep in mind Star Wars, Episode 2, and Spy Kids 2 were both shot entirely in HD digital, not one scrap of film.. both dir's said they won't use film again.. remains to be seen.... lmk if you find lower price on HD 3ccd cam please ty

I played with this cam when it first came out in Tokyo. It does shoot beautiful imagery however, has been said before, you need a player and TV set that let's you see the result (this is not mention editing software). Panasonic had the full set-up available when I went to their first display. The times they are just not ready for this on a consumer level. As clear and deep as the imagery was - it was still video like.

which JVC HD cam do you mean?

the GY-HD100 looks promising and as far as i can tell, can kick the dvx100 to kingdom come. it comes with a full manual fujinon lens so you know the glass is pretty. and its in glorious HD! The sharpness might put you at the video side but hey its got fully adjustable looks.

the date of this comment was in 2003. Can you figure out which camera I'm talking about? I'm afraid I was talking about the very first 1/3 CCD HD cam.
