"Desert Sun" shot with DVX100a

I'm in need of a shot of the burning hot sun. Imagine a film of some guy lost in the desert and he's going to die soon from lack of water. Camera pans up to sun to show you how hot it is. That's the shot I'm going for.

I only need a three of four seconds; is the 1/64 ND filter and f16 enough to let me do that without damage to the camera or do I need a solar filter of some sort?

I would put all the nd filters on, and as many as you can find filter wise, keep the iris low, keeping the sun from huring the ccds is to keep the sun off them, the F stop is digitally effected. Personally, i have read that recording the sun directly can harm the camera, but i have yet to actually see that happen personally, but i have never tried it. bud ND filters would be the best. Then just take the ones you dont need, then to get the exposure right, use the iris.
