Advice needed on camera purchase
Well I am close to making the leap to my first 3 CCD camera. I have looked around and have had my eye on the DVX100B for quite some time now.
Problem now is do I buy a non HD camera at this point ? Or spend the extra $1500 and buy the Canon XH-A1 HD cam instead..I can afford the extra $$ if needed and have a pretty decent PC setup (Dual core 2.6 etc) at home.. At this point does a non HD cam make sense ? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers SC |
Hi Steve..............
Think you'd better start off here and see where it takes you:

Hi,
If you can afford it,...it is not a question, go for the Xh-A1. Even if it is still 1500 $ more then you were thinking to pay... see it as an investment. The DVX 100B is a great camera, but SD will not cut it anymore soon enough... and the camera you will buy now at high price (assuming you are buying new) will depreciate in value a lot in the next several months/years (it is already happening actually). That being said, if you want to get a used original DVX100 in good condition for learning...at around 1200-1300 $ish...this could be a good choice. But, since you said you have the money,...go for the XH-A1 and keep the camera for a while. Philippe |
Thanks for the reply...Still reading up on the XH-A1...

Thanks, but by the time I read all that the A1 will be obsolete...
