Can you capture dvx100 24p footage with any camcorder?

I once owned a dvx100 (first version, no A, no B), and still have some tapes shot in 24p.

Can I use any camcorder (e.g. the Canon hv30) to capture the material on those tapes into Final Cut Pro?

Isn't the 24p recorded in 60i that should be readable for any camcorder?

Thanks!

I use a small Panasonic consumer MiniDV camera to capture my DVX100B footage. I tried using that same camera to capture footage shot on a Canon XL2, but the footage had audio problems and some dropped frames. I later used the Canon XL2 to capture the footage and it was fine.

So from that experience I'd say there are differences in how each manufacturer handles playback. Yes, the footage is written to tape as 60i.

Give it a shot, can't hurt to try.

I use my JVC DV3000 to capture my DVX footage and it works just fine. As far as I know the DVX records 24p as 60i so any camcorder should work.

Thank you!

I'm happy to finally get the material from those tapes. (Paris in late summer).
