cleaning the lens

How are we suppose to reach in to clean the lens when those 2 plastic pieces are in the way? do you have to take a tiny screwdriver and unscrew them then clean it? I dont feel like doing that when i go out to film everytime..

2 plastic pieces? I keep a UV filter on my DVC80 at all times -- that's what I clean regularly, not the lens itself. And I can leave the hood on as well...

Here is a useful link

Mike,

This link on Adam Wilt's site talks about cleaning the lens.

I hope this helps.

Ah, the anti-reflection plate. The DVC80 has that as well. Regardless, though, Mike shouldn't have to do it "when i go out to film everytime" as he said, right? If you keep a UV filter on the cam, then you'd rarely have to clean the lens, right? Isn't that part of the point of a UV filter?

Some people want the pure look but I keep a UV on for lens protection.

John Britt October 22nd, 2003 10:26 PM

AHHRGH! So infuriating! Mac vs PC; wet lube vs dry lube; and now, UV filter vs no UV filter! Can we have no absolutes in this business?! :)
