Can I use my old JVC DVCam to transfer DVX video?

Hi guys...newbie to the board, thanks for all of your help in my other topic of "why does my rendered footage looks like crap?"

Here's a simple question:

1) Should I use my DVX100 to playback my footage and capture it via firewire in my computer (knowing this puts hours on the heads, etc.)

or

2) Should I use an old cheap JVC DVL505U Mini-DV Camera (cost about $600) to put my nice Panasonic DVM63MQ tapes in and transfer the tapes via firewire to my computer that way

I guess I don't want to "ruin" or dirty the nice MQ tapes by putting them in my JVC camera, but perhaps I'm just paranoid.

So use the DVX100 or an old JVC Mini-DV cam for the transfer?

Thoughts? Pros/Cons to either?

Thanks!

Run a head cleaning tape through the JVC then record and capture a full hour of anythying on the JVC using the MQ tape to be sure tape mechanism is in good working order and you should be fine.

Stephen offered good advice.

If you're like some moral support, I've been doing my vx2000 footage Firewire transfers and playback with my old JVC miniDV
camcorder. I only use my vx2000 for recording.
