Anyone else have the same problem...
 

When ever im using the focus ring or do "movements" with the camera... I started to noticed that front section thats underneith the FOCUS ring "Section in RED" makes alittle klanking noise and is loose. www.illconcepts.com/camera.jpg

I really notice the noise when I change Lens... twisting on and off each time. Even when the wide lens or 16x9 lens is on the camera... and i move the camera around or use the focus ring i can feel and hear the little loose klanking noise from the front section.

Even if i give a turning pressure with my figers on the front section it moves and makes that noise. I dont really remeber the same problem on my old 100 but started to notice it when im using my 100A.

Anyone elses front section makes the same noise like mine? Is this a common thing? Should I take it in for fixing? Poor construction?

I just looked at your pic. Could the thread thing be cracked?

The threads where I have the UV filter attacted... no thats apart of the hole thing. The threads are not cracked... Its the hole front unit thing ma-jig "IN RED" Underneith the focus ring and goes back to the zoom ring...

It's the mechanism that Panasonic uses in the optical stabilizer.

All DVX cams do it. ALL of them.

It's part of the design and nothing to be worried about.

If you search the archives on DV.com you'll see that a lot of people post this EXACT topic and then find that it's normal.

When I answered this point on DV.com for the third time I finally posted the link that Frank has above. Adam Wilt addressed this funky noise 'cause there were people who worried about it.

The day I opened the box I'd just paid $3200 for I remember thinking, "Hmm, what IS that?"... then I jumped online and found it was normal... so there. Feel any better?

If this is happening when the camera is powered on it's NOT the stabilizer klunk, which is a very distinct sound.
The lens assembly on my (and other 100a's) has a bit of "shift" when pressure is applied ...as in when tightening a filter or accessory lens. It's as though the front focus ring section is a little loose. It doesn't seem to affect the image.
I consider it another manufacturing "feature" along with the rattling eyepiece, excess play in the tape door assembly and headphone jack "hiss".

I know its not the OIS... i noticed that sound when i first pulled it out of a box...

The loose front section just started happening and I really noticed it when i change lens... Ive be thinking that maybe the Panasoinc Wide Conversion Lens (AG- LW7208) is a little to heavy for the front end? Cant take the weight?!?!
