30p question

I am going to do some presentation shoots that will go straight to CD, most likely divx/xvid encoded. A friend of mine that does a lot of encoding said I should try to shoot progressive because trying to encode interlaced is a pain. In this case should I use 30p? I will be using Premiere Pro as my NLE, and then encoding the final edit to put on CD/DVD, in that case would you shoot in 30p or 60i. Are there downsides to shooting in 30p?

Thanks

Chris

30P sounds ideal for your intended usage.

As for downsides? Well, if you're using a DVX100A, then no, there's no downsides at all, except that autofocus runs slow. If you're using an original DVX100, the downsides would be that you can't use electronic gain or autofocus while shooting 30P.

Yes I have the DVX100A so that's good... As far as the auto focus should I use manual in that case, or since it's going to be a pretty steady target, as in a presentation should I just leave it on.

I'd definately use the manual focus. You don't want the camera to get confused in the middle of the presentation, and start "hunting" for focus. Screams "amateur".
