Shoulder mount
 

Anyone have any luck with a shoulder mount for a DVX100 or DVC80? I want to use it with the viewfinder, not the pop out LCD screen.

I also have the DVRig Pro. Not cheap, but you can hold the camera steady all day with it. It balances the camera so well you can take both hands off for adjustments. It transfers the weight of the camera to directly over your shoulder and to your hips. You can also pedestal and tilt the camera up and down and shoot from a higher or lower angle with no fatigue. It also has some properties of a stedi-type rig allowing you to walk and move around while damping camera movement.

Dv rig pro= best accesory yet that I have bought for my DVX!

I use old Arrifrex 16S shoulder pod and Peter Lisand shoulder pod.

Before you buy something else, you really need to try the DVRig Pro. Make sure it is setup properly and adjusted for your body-size. It is without doubt the best available for the DVX100/a in my book.

I have a DV Rig Pro also and it's without a doubt worth every penny I spent on it. If you plan on using the camera all day and need steady shots while walking, you won't be disappointed. Plus, the man who created it, Danny Natovich, is a good guy. He's responsive to e-mails and has no problem supporting his product. You can't beat that kind of service.

I wonder how one buys one. I brought up the website over a week ago and sent the distributor here in LA an email and have never heard from him. Maybe it's because I asked the price. How much did y'all pay for one? Where did you buy it?

EVS online and B&H both have them. If you are a DVX user member EVS will give you a good deal. I got mine from EVS

I paid $600, but I didn't know about the DVX User discount at the time. Definitely buy from EVS -- the service is great. Also, be sure to pick up the carrying case. Have them back order it if they're out of stock.

As a wedding/events videographer, what would you choose ? A DV Pro Rig or a tripod ? Would a magiqcam suffice and not require another rig like the pro ? or would having both have advantages over a tripod since I mainly use the tripod for filmmaking only and maybe the rare stage perfromance coverage ?

I actually use both for weddings. No shoulder mount in the world will give you as steady a shot as a tripod, so for the ceremony I use a tripod. For everything else I use the Dv rig.
