MKH416, Shoe mount, and mattebox issues
 

I just received my DVX with a Chrosziel mattebox, along with my MKH416 mic. I had ordered the MZS CAM shock mount for the camera, but this seems awkward for this microphone, as it's a bear getting it in and out of the thing, and the foam windshield is rendered useless. I also got the sennheiser blimp for the boompole, but this doesn't fit the MZS CAM mount either.

If there is anyone out there with a similar mic, I'd love to hear your suggestions for getting it on the camera, up away from the mattebox.

I've got a DVX and a 416 and I use either a Rycote shoe-mount or the K-Tek KSSM... the K-Tek isn't supposed to be for mics as heavy as the 416, but so far it works great. The mic is never in frame either. With either the K-Tek or Rycote mount I can actually tilt the mic down and it's still out of frame.

If you want to take it one step better... get the Stratos bracket for $39 from B&H. I've got one of those too... it helps steady your shots and you can mount a mic way up off-cam if you like... I only use that part of the time though because the mic isn't in the way of anything in the shoe-mount anyway.

There you go... 3 guaranteed solutions.
