Test shoot for the DVX -100 pal cam
 

I am planning to shoot a three minute test on the new DVX -100 to be transferred to film . Its for a 90 min feature ( mostly indoor) to be fimed in March , I want to buy the camera so this test is a deciding factor , the film is going to be released on 35mm . any suggestions?

Yes, I have the most important suggestion for you. Before you shoot a 3 minute test with a PAL DVX100, check with the transfer lab about requirements. Example, interlaced or progressive? Shutter settings---locked iris, etc. Also, read that film look article at http://www.dv.com

Just to be clear -- the settings for creating a "film look" is the typically NOT what one needs for going to real film.

According to what you've said it seems to be that progressive video may not be the best one for transferring to film...and also achieving the film-look isn't the the best choice to it...

I had thought 24p and film-look was mainly targeted to film tranfers.

What's the use of 24p and film-look then?

Felipe, some transfer labs do a better job with progressive, others, interlaced. Check with the transfer lab you intend to use.
