White balance

I noticed in the DVX100 manual that the WB sensor is outside the optical part. Does this mean that this camera adjusts the incident light color balance and not the scenelight properties?

I'm sorry yoru question was never answered!

Panasonic camcorders, if I remember, have typically had an opening for a light sensor. And, if it's for the WB then you are correct. But:

1) It doesn't mean they aren't using a system that measures both incident and scene light.

2) I don't think its the IR sensor.

How about doing some tests. Get a color gel and put in front of sensor and WB. Then try in front of the lens.

You've asked such a good question. Anyone else have an answer?
