Holy moley! Did you see this demo?!

Made by some guy named Garrett. It's amazing! |
I'll double that holy moly...and add a holy cow!

Nice! Good use of music ("A Beautiful Mind", I think) and great shot composition. I got goosebumps watching the thing! People are starting to see what's possible with this camera.
Check out my review of the DVX100 to 35mm demo I saw at DuArt on this other thread (it's at the bottom of page 3): http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.phps=&threadid=5101&perpage=15&pagenumber=3 This camera seriously rocks. |
Huh?
The demo is amazing in it's own right. How did you know this was shot by AG-DVX100. The website doesn't say.

question about the footage
never mind i figured it out. I had a question about the footage. how do you brighten up the whites so that you get that angelic glow around them? I have FCP.

Wow. That video, along with the others on the site, is really good. I think it shows that the DVX100 is just a great camera, even if you never intend to transfer to film.
However, I do have a question: On some of the video clips on the site, the producer used copyrighted music. What are the rules for using songs for wedding videos, etc.? Is there a book I can buy that will explain this once and for all? Thanks! |
Whoa that's wierd. That place is located maybe 8 miles from my apt. in Raleigh, NC. Nice demos too. :)

Link no longer working!
I finally get access to a broadband connection, and the link to that demo is gone! $#^$@!
Does anyone know where else I can find it? |
http://momentsinmotion.com/demo.htm
The demo they were talking about is Christmas Magic, down at the very bottem. |
The link apperently no longer works. Any new address? Maybe he got too many hits and took it down.

Yes, it seems the download is gone. Maybe bandwith limit. Here's another example that I downloaded when the dvx100 was new. I've stuck in on my site for backup.
http://www.tentimesnothing.com/24prackfocus.mov I don't remember who made it. I think someone named Drew did but I could be mistaken. At any rate, it also shows very filmlike imagery. |
Thanks for posting that, Rene. That's also nicely done.
I wonder what kind of lighting set up they used for that? |
Yes, thanks Rene. That is a very interesting clip.

Interesting that in this thread we are all convinced this is DVX100 footage while in the DOF thread we are talking about how a DOF this shallow is impossible with this camera (or any 1/3" CCD)
Any bets on who is right? |
I'm not an expert enough to explain the intricasies of dof, fstops, and focal length, but I can say that when in macro (3 or 4 feet from the object in focus) on the dvx100, you can get effective shallow dof. Swinging the focus on the background further out, you get a relatively nice looking rackfocus. It's not impossible at all, but it's limited. Hard to do in a small room unless the focus subject is very near. Using a field monitor helps a lot since the little flip out one isn't accurate in my opinion.
