The default level seems to be ted too low for accurate judement for audio levels.

I haven't used this camera in 6 weeks or so, but I believe they are the buttons in front of the view finder. If I remember correctly they can not be adjusted in record mode, only playback.

There are inline headphone amps available and there is a thread on the subject. Try searching the topic and you'll find specific brands and retailers recommended.

Thanks for your reply. I have DVX100 for roughly 2 months now. Previously I was using Sony's PD150 and the monitoring headphone volume for recording is highly accurate as compared with DVX100 but PD150's internal audio tend to crack with level pushed up too high.

That does not happen to DVX100 even with the level been pushed all the way to the maximum.
