Ok well i just bought a dvx100b and i was planing on trying to get the 500 dollar rebate. I got it from an E-bay store which had good reviews, but that might of been my first mistake. It was supposed to be New and i specifically asked if it had the UPC code on the box so i could get the $500 rebate. They said yes of course, but i cant find it any where on the box. When i got it the box said DVX100Bp and the box looked like it had previously been opened. Inside the camera looked like the real thing, except the LCD screen was gray like the previous versions, Not black like i thought the B was supposed to be but it still said dvx100b on the side.

First question: Where should the UPC code be located on the box?

Second question: the p just stands for progressive right? and its the normal dvx100b?

What about the gray lcd screen?

I am pretty pissed right now, and i am ready to send it back, but i want to make sure before i do.

I found a number under one of the flaps at the bottom of the box, but there is no bar code, is that possibly the UPC code? it doesn't say any where.

Sounds like a grey market purchase to me.

I thought that the p on DVX100bp means it is the PAL version, but i'm not sure. You might want to call Panasonic with that question.

Sorry to hear about your luck. I guess the most help I can give you here is that a UPC code has 12 digits. Other than that, I don't know.

And as far as the P goes, my DVC20 is officially called the ''Panasonic AG-DVC20p". And it's not progressive. And NTSC.

ok, i was wrong about the LCD screen, it looks like the right camera in every way, and i read some where about the P on some other forum.

I just cant find the UPC code any where.

The model number on the outside of the box should read AG-DVX100BPS. If it does not read this way, you have a gray product. The P is a designation fo the Americas so that is not the worry but we get a lot of gray from Latin America, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Canada. So look at the model number on the box, what does it say?

The UPC code would be on a tag on one of the ends of the box.

"What's the DVX100P? What happened to the DVX100, no P?

Don't panic. They're the same thing. All the literature talks about the DVX100, and that's what you order, but when the box arrives it says DVX100P on it. The DVX100A, of course, is shown as DVX100AP.

P stands for "Panasonic, North America"; it doesn't stand for PAL the way it would on a Sony cam. If this were a 625/50 ("PAL") camera, it would have the E (Europe) suffix instead of the P."

btw, It is definitely the right camera.

Just thought I would tell people that so others don't worry.

Nils, I hope you'll share your thoughts on using the camera. I'm considering buying one myself.
