Help with the film look
 

I got the camera today,
I have to edit in 30 fps system, now how would I setup the camera to get the best film look, color gama all that?

Ok I took the camera, when I turn the knob f5 f6 it looks like film any other looks like video, the master ped on -7 and cinelike and it looks great

Greg, the easiest way to get the film look with any cam, is with the use of good lighting, good camera angles, and not too much panning, tilting and zooming. If you have to, though, keep it all slow---unless you want to get a special effect. Also keep them well under 180 degress. For coming in (or out), instead of zooming, use a cheap dolly (or even a kid's wagon/tricycle) or one of those weighted/balanced steady pod things. I also like to keep clips short, to vary interest.

Every shoot is different unless you are shooting in a studio and you keep track of all the settings so that you can duplicate it another day.

is the 24p editable in 29.97 nle system is the play back 29?
and 24p advanced is 24 playback
what is the diffrence in look between 30 p?
also can anyone give me the menu chroma and all the setup for an outside shoot, example how do you have it?

There is a dizzying array of choice with this camera in shooting and in editing. I would suggest starting with the links at the top of the forum to begin learning about 24P, 24AD, 30P, Cinegamma etc.

Also, www.adamwilt.com has a good overview of the camera and settings.

There are no "right or wrong" settings per gamma etc., just different looks. However, certain choices related to frame rates, pulldown and overexposing whites will not be reversible in post, so those are good things to know about.
