Whats a good lens

If you could only get one extra lens for the gh2 which one would it be? I'm looking for one that is versatile in different situations but better than the stock 14-42 in low light.

Versatile for what situations? Landscape? Weddings? Around the house?

A zoom or fixed?

If you want better low light, you need F/2.8 or faster for general purposes, But how low is low light for you?

$ for $, the 20mm F/1.7 is the favorite of most people.

An ideal lens for general purposes can be the Sigma 18-55mm F/2.8. Decent in low light, nice zoom range. It's out of production, but is a very nice lens, and can be had for around $350 used.

The Sigma, used with an adapter also has auto focus functions, which is handy. It is a nice lens, but not as crisp as the Panasonic.

Thanks. The sigma looks like a great lens.

Well, I most likely wont be doing any events or weddings this summer. Im hoping to do a short or two this summer with it. I guess my ideal lens would be one that you could almost shoot a feature with on just one lens(if there is such a lens).

Yeah i hear good things about the 20mm 1.7 so I will check that out also with the sigma.

If you need vesatile, you need a zoom for sure. There is no such thing as a versatile fixed lens! But the single most usable fixed would likely be the 20mm, which you can crop with by using your feet.

I shoot almost entirely on the Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95. It's just so darn good. Excellent in low light, and super crisp. The lens itself is a work of art, so well designed. Super smooth focus ring. Can't say enough good things about it.
