GH13 Footage on Interlaced Monitor - Advice Needed

I am in a location where I'm unable to view footage from my GH13 on an interlaced monitor. I'm curious if anyone has compared 25p native vs 25p in a 50i stream (or the equivalent NTSC framerates) to see if there's a difference in smoothness (whip-pans and so forth excluded).

Many thanks!

I guess everyone here has HD LCD/Plasmas then? No one's ever seen their GH1 footage on an interlaced broadcast monitor (or just a regular interlaced tv)?

Dave, I'll jump in, but just to kind of keep you company, since you're just talking to yourself.

I can't imagine the difference would be much. I would try in the DSLR forum, maybe.

As you may know, you shouldn't pan in 25p unless you're following a subject, or unless if your pan is very slow. That is probably why moving shots look so good in 25p, or 24p, no issues as with panning.

Your question is probably a good one, but I think you are grasping at straws. I think you should avoid panning unless your are following a subject, or get very good at doing pans extremely slowly and smoothly.

If you are following a subject with your pan, the background will still be choppy, but that is the way it is even for hollywood productions.

Just my uneducated 2 cents.

Thanks for the input Jeff. Much appreciated.

I'll keep your advice in mind for pans. With the GH13 I have generally kept the shots locked off (either on a tripod or a monopod), but have recently begun to experiment with a bit more motion (moving with subjects etc). I've been trying to get feedback from the broadcaster I freelance for (to gauge how the 25p footage looks after they convert it to 50i and watch it on an interlaced broadcast monitor) but so far all I've received is silence (kinda like here sometimes).

I'm starting work on a doc soon (which I hope to get broadcast 1080i50) and simply am trying to find out what camera movement (ie: following someone - 14-140mm lens with OIS and camera strap/monopod stabilization) looks like 25p vs 25p-in-50i-wrapper on an interlaced monitor ... or maybe there's no difference at all and I'm grasping at straws ...
