Hello everyone.
I'm posting this video for anyone who is thinking about possibly getting any of the following since they were used to make this.

Hey Eric,
Nice work.
Can I ask if you made your lower third Text on bar thingy, or was it a preset from somewhere?
cheers

Eric, I watched your video after you posted it, and was blown away by the slider shots. I forgot to compliment you cause I went right off and started researching the pocket dolly, really nice piece of gear.

Thanks for posting! Excellent stuff.

Re: GH2 Goes to a Classic Car Show

Thanks for the responses, I wasn't really expecting anyone to post!

I made the lower third using only After Effects.

I think I used the polygon tool to get how many sides I wanted for the end. Then made a rectangle the same width as one of the polygon sides and stretched it lengthwise to how long I thought it should be.

After that I duplicated the rectangle to match with the number of sides.
Turned on the 3D properties for each layer.
Added a camera with a wide angle lens.
Arranged shape layers properly in 3D space.

Keyframed how each side came on.
Keyframed the bounce.
Typed in name text.
Linked name text to one of the shape layers.

Masked out the background since there where some gaps in the 3D object and didn't want to see video pocking through.

Exported as Quicktime animation with RGB and Alpha.

I probably spent about 5 hours making the name keys. 2 hours on a regular cube prototype and after deciding it was lame spent the next week thinking about it, then about 3 hours making the one you see in the video.

Jeff, yeah the slider can make most anything look awesome! I'm using the Pocket Dolly V1 with it, which I don't think is very good, but I think the V2 is supposed to be a lot better. With the V1 I couldn't get shots that smooth without using the motor pack on it. It's an expensive upgrade, but well worth it!

It looks like I only live about 1-2 hours from you. I live in Louisville, KY. If there are any other car show type things around here I can send you an invite if you want some more experience. Just a thought.

Thanks again!
