GH2: Grand Canyon North Rim (GX 12-35 f2.8)

First project with the Lumix GX 12-35 f2.8 lens. Was the only lens used, and none other was needed or desired.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a great lens for the GH2.

Great shots. It is indeed a magnificent lens. Well constructed, too.

Well you made me want to go there, so that's probably a good sign.

It is a fine lens. However, for 90% of this project the Lumix 14-140 or 14-45 are just as well constructed and produce comparable images. I'm also skeptical of a lens that extends while zooming being truly weather sealed.

Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching Patrick.

Contrary to what I've read, and though I don't often record zooms, this lens does breath when zooming. There is also very audible clicking when zooming. Still looking for a work around just in case.

Dan have you tried zooming with the lens while shooting? I know this isn't an optimal situation with a DSLR but sometimes in run & gun shooting there really isn't an option to stop the camera.

Most of my M4/3 zoom don't do this very well but my 45mm to 200mm seems to handle this very well when I can get a steady hand on it. Nowhere near mechanical smoothness of course but it can get the job done if I just cannot stop recording.

Thomas, The zoom ring is very smooth, but despite being a constant aperture lens, there is very audible clicking and apparent exposure change as you zoom. Even more so than the 14-140 & 14-45. Full manual & AF/AE lock have no effect on the issue. I'm still looking for a workaround.

Thanks for watching.

Very nice as usual Dan. Thanks for posting.
Did you shoot hand held or did you use some type of support?

Thank you for the good comments Norm. I used a Gitzo GT2531LVL tripod and Manfrotto 701HDV head for this project.
