GH3 PAL VERSION limit 30 min rec??
 

Hello, I bought GH3 in Europe, Romania .. is PAL version but am limited to 30 minutes video recording .. normal PAL version is not unlimited recording?

The normal PAL version is limited to 30 minutes recording. It is possible to buy a PAL model GH3 (G6 GX7 & GM1) from Hong Kong that does not have a 30 minute limit. I have a posted a link several times on DVInfo. I bought a G6 & it records more than 2.5 hours to fill a 32GB card & still has battery capacity left. I had to pay customs tax but it ended up being about the same price as if I had bought it here in the UK. Of course it would be a hassle if I ever had a warranty issue but that slight risk is outweighed by having no recording limit. I know personally of a couple of other people who have also bought cameras & lenses from the same source & been satisfied. gh3-notes:gh3-discount [Personal View FAQs Wiki]

Is not it possible that Panasonic modify and remove the 30 min?But if a pale version without the 30 minutes Frimware install new version 1.2, then remains no limits were going to be limited to 30 minutes?I ask this because I saw GH3 PAL unlimited 30 minutes and I saw a different version of particleboard Frimware specially for unlimited 30 min.
A pal version 1.2 installed one on an unlimited GH3 30 min?, And is still without the 30 min?

The Australian Pal model GH 3 has no record limit.

I want to support Docea's question. Where is in the camera is the 30 min limit set? Could it be dismantled with a hack or some kind of firmware?

I suspect that the 30 minute recording limit is hard coded somewhere in the camera as there is only one firmware upgrade file on the Panasonic website for a particular model e.g. GH3 or G6. There is not an NTSC firmware or a PAL firmware nor a PAL with no recording limit firmware.

heres my old post - plenty of info out there to read

After reading James Ryans difficulties sourcing time limits on PAL cameras - I did some tests and here you go:
AVCHD and MP4 - 30 minute limit
mov 1920 x 1080 25p - only limited by card size - no time limit.
I have not tested the other mov modes but would assume there is no limit on those either.
My only question is why is there a limit on the first two and not mov ????

Panasonic is queer like this. My holiday camera is an FT-3. 29'59" limit on 1080, no limit on 720p. Even queerer though is 1080 is 30fps and 720 is 25fps... on a PAL camera.

Panasonic is seriously sick.

Hmm, my GH3 has a 30 min limit in mov 1920x1080 25p.
