There's no guarantee that you would be able to get 4K via the HDMI port of the Odyssey. More than likely it would require a hardware update.

Unless you mean via the YAGH, but then the Shogun won't work with that outside of the HDMI anyway.

Re: odyssey7q vs Atomos Shogun for gh4

The HDMI in for the Odyssey7Q is HDMI 1.1. Despite them saying it's HDMI 1.4, a max resolution of 1080p30 and 1080i60 is HDMI 1.1.

The Shogun truly supports 4K30p HDMI in, but the GH4 only outputs 1080 out the HDMI.

You're better off with the 7Q and the GH4 professional jackpack. 4xHD-SDI into the Odyssey will work.

Jack, are you sure that the GH4 only outputs 1080 via the HDMI? How does the DMW-YAGH receive it's 4k input from the camera? Thought I read it was via the HDMI, how else would it connect?

Re: odyssey7q vs Atomos Shogun for gh4

The GH4 can output 4K 10 bit 422 from the micro HDMI port.
Doing so at 10 bit 422 HD does disable the internal recording not too sure about 4K

So the Shogun would be the way to go - when it ships.
