South of France real estate video filmed with GH2

We filmed this a few weeks ago. It was the first time that I had used the GH2 for a while but I was pleasantly surprised with how well it came out. It's shot almost all handheld with the Panasonic 7-14mm lens at 1280x720 50fps. The sunrise & sunset time-lapse sequences that top & tail the video were shot with a Canon 5D Mk II as are a few stills that are included. I know that if I had used a Canon DSLR for the video that the moire from the decking on the terrace would have been awful & here there is not a trace.

My wife Alice also made a posting on her blog about the video shoot No Holds Barred @ Beautiful Belaugh : A Personal Blog

Re: South of France real estate video filmed with GH2

It has been pointed out to me that I didn't credit my editor who is my wife Alice without whom none of this would have been possible.

We sort of specialise in these property shoots & I am rather excited with the use of the GH2 & the 7-14mm lens which is wonderfully wide for the interiors without getting wacky & distorted. Shooting 1280x720 is plenty of resolution for web delivery of the finished video & using 50fps or 60fps gives the potential for smoothly slowing down movement.

I shot this nearly all handheld apart from I think one shot on the GlideTrack. It was so much quicker & easier than lugging a tripod about but next time I should use a monopod as even with the ultra-wide angle lens & using the viewfinder for a 3rd point of contact plus holding it as still as possible the lack of stabilisation is noticeable. At least it was noticeable until the wonderful Mercalli was used in post but it is better to have the image still in the first place. Has anyone used a simple shoulder rig with the GH2?

I bought dvmultirig for my GH1 but the camera was way to light and I couldn't get it stable. (it works well with my HMC150). I switched to a monopod and I am quite satisfied.

Hi Nigel

Beautiful work...those pans in the rooms were handheld??? I'm impressed!! I certainly wouldn't worry about a little movement here and there..you show off the property prefectly and unless the buyer is looking for a really skilled cameraman and not actually the villa then I still doubt whether they would be noticed!!

You show off a stunning property in a perfect way..the agent can only be delighted with that !!
