HVX200 with DR-HD100

I get HVX200 today and I didn't order P2 card with it, I was think that I can record HD720 on tape but now I know that if I want record any of HD OR HDV I have to do with hard drive like P2 or FS100, FS-100), my question is :I have Focus DR-HD100 for my old JVC-HD100 and ever one know JVC record 720 format and DR-HD100 do also so is that mean I can use it with my HVX200 720 format ??? is there Any way to upgrade DR-HD100 to make it work with HVX200?? I hope you understand me and sorry 4 my bad English

No, it will not work. The DR-HD100 only supports HDV, and the HVX does not use HDV.

The only FireStore that works with the HVX is the FS-100.

Thank you barry,is Serious Magic DV Rack HD 2.0 work with HVX??

Ken Hull December 8th, 2007 04:15 PM

Mouayed,

The Firestore designed for the HVX200 can record at 100 Mb/s. I think the Firestore for HDV camcorders only records at 25 Mb/s. I'm not sure what the specs are for the DV Rack HD 2.0.

But I thought I read that Panasonic is now including a memory card with each HVX200, in order to better complete with Sony's EX1. Have you already received your HVX200?

Thx Ken,yes i already do, Sony EX1 haven't Variable frame rates, have only 60p and I buy HVX200 4 this job as i have sport work i have to do. with different frame rates.

Please read this:

A bonus feature that is included with DV Rack HD is Serious Magic's DVCProHD Video for Windows Decoder. Now PC users can edit DVCPro50 and DVCProHD footage through a converter utility to take the MXF files from the HVX200 and convert them to AVI for use in any Windows NLE. The decoder is available separately for 195.00 if you need additional seats or don't have DV Rack HD, and like DV Rack is allowed to be installed on a maximum of two machines at the same time.

One disappointment in DV Rack HD's functionality with the HVX200 had nothing to do with DV Rack HD or Serious Magic at all, but with Panasonic. It turns out that the HVX200 has no active FireWire output when set in PN mode. This is the mode on the camera that only writes active frames to the P2 card. In situations where DV Rack HD is used primarily for measurement as opposed to capture (as I use it often when jumping into a crew to do camera engineering and technical monitoring), the PN mode is what makes the most sense for the videographers to use because of it's space efficiency. (In 24 fps PN mode, the camera only writes the active frames per second to the card as opposed to writing 60 frames per second with a 2:3 pulldown--increasing the card capacity 2.5 times.)

The best option to this dilemma is to capture using DV Rack HD from the HVX200 camera in a non-PN mode and not worry about P2 capacity. P2 cards are still expensive enough that you could certainly justify a fairly high-end portable computer system with DV Rack HD for capture in many cases.

Wrong.
On top of all the other NTSC and PAL standards, the EX1 is capable of the following:
For 720 footage, any frame rate between 1 and 60.
For 1080 footage, any frame rate between 1 and 30.

This is FAR more than the set frame rates the HVX200 offers.

Mouayed Zabtia December 18th, 2007 08:48 AM

Wrong !!!

HVX can also record 1 to 60p if u do that via frame hack, I heard that there’s different quality between those camcorder and the best one in 60p JVC HD200&250 .

Hmm... LOL.
Well there's always the hacks... LOL
