Firestore Import problems into FCP

I just bought an HVX200 and am using it with the Firestore FS100 v.4 and am having trouble ingesting the footage in FCP via the import, panasonic P2 path. The only way it works is to bring in the files via Finder, but then they are all messed up because they come in as a bunch of separate files. I thought when you imported from the Firestore the clips all came in as one.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I could just have something messed up in my settings, I am a newbie at this camera and P2 thing.

If you shot MXF/p2 with the FS, you must use the organize clips function first.

If you have done that and still it doesn't work give us some version numbers for FCP and your procedure for importing.

And if you're using it exclusively with FCP, change the FS's record mode to Quicktime PN. That way you don't have to use the import function at all.

Difference between P2, Quicktime PN etc

Ok, thanks for the help guys. I was able to get the Mxf files to come in okay, but am still unclear on the difference between the four formats.

The QuickTime will shoot native QT formats out firewire. Works for everything but pNative, which doesn't stream out FW.

The QT PN will record the same formats as those that stream out FW, but will strip out redundant frames on the fly which results in the equivalent of pNative format.

The MXF formats or p2 formats shoot the same format as p2 cards, and requires the organize p2 function which retails the metadata.

It then is imported via the unwrap and rewrap in QT using FCP.

We're shooting HDV720 24p working on a HDX200 - Firestore FS4 - RAID - FCP 6 workflow. When I set the firestore to record in Quicktime PN i get a highly distorted image with green and purple pixel drops all over it, and no movement or audio except a distorted high frequency scream.

Horrible.

So we are back in P2 Pn which is doubling the time on our workflow.

Anyone got any thoughts? This is my first shoot on Panasonic and on Firestore, and my crew are not very familiar with the system either, so we're on a steep learning curve!
