...I thought we'd keep this new board "above the fold" so to speak, just so everybody knows that it's here, and then we'll figure out what to do with it once this camera makes its debut at NAB in April.

Some forum reorganization will be required; this isn't an HDV piece so it doesn't belong in our HDV Acquisition Equipment forum. Nope, since the format is DVCPro HD, I guess we'll need a new section dedicated to that. Until then, consider this forum as the home of all topics relevant to this camcorder which is "coming soon" from Panasonic.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate in Area 51, since there is nothing but rumor and opinion so far?

It's not just rumor and opinion, it has been confirmed by Panasonic that there is a new P2/DVCPRO-HD/24P/DVCPRO-50/DVCPRO25 camera coming, priced "competitive with the Z1," also listed as "under $10,000." The product hasn't been announced yet, no details (other than what I listed above) have been announced, but they have said that it will be unveiled at NAB.

It means we will find out all the details at NAB, including release date, pricing, etc.
Until then any date we throw out is just a guess.
