Details Announced!

Watching the text feed of Apple's presentation at NAB, a suprise move--the details on the HVX200 were announced! Looks like the cam is going at an MSRP of $5995. It has 2 P2 slots, a miniDV tape drive. "All HD." It does variable frame rates in 720p. Available Q4 2005.

That's all I know, but thank Apple-X.net for the info! I'll post more here as soon as I find out!

Can't wait for the photos to go up!

Variable frame rates in 720P!?

edit -
wow.

Is this a mistake?
When is Q4? October?

No, it's mis-use of the term!! :)

He doesn't mean variable frame-rate, he means *different* frame rates! In other words it'll do 720p @ 24,30 and 60 fps...

Sorry to break the bad news to you!

Luis Caffesse April 18th, 2005 09:18 AM

no, it means VariCam style variable frame rates.

From panasonic's site:

World's first variable frame rate handheld camera-recorder; allows slow-motion and fast-motion recording

It may not mean EVERYTHING from 4fps to 60fps, but obvioulsy it means more than just the 24/30/60

Wow, my bad!!

That wasn't in the original info, was it?? Is this a new addition? That's pretty big news....
