Just the plain facts on the HVX200

looks like a cool camera from what i've read & seen from photos, physically very similar to the DVX100.

can anyone tell me the definite specs & features on this camera (at least what we know so far)

it has a mini DV tape mech, does this mean only standard def onto tape & HD onto P2/HDD?

Well, it means DV onto tape.
DV, SD, & HD onto P2/HDD.

also it says 16:9 chips. So it would have to record 16:9 to tape too.

4.5 to 58.5mm

same wide end as the dVX, but with a tighter tele
