Panasonic hvx200 usb. FW port fried?

I have used my 1394 device to transfer footage from my hvx200 to my imac. but now it wont fit like something is in the way. I bought a new cable and tried to hook that up, no good. But when i pulled it out there was a tiny black thing on the cable end andnow it looks like it came from the hvx200, the copper tongs look exposed. It wont connect to my computer. How the hell did this happen and what do i do?
