Fastest and Easiest MXF convertor & Editor
 

Hi,
I'm new to the P2 game, but am simply looking for a good, fast MXF to AVI or other format conversion software apllication.
Ideally, it will give the option to crop, trim the clips, etc befor output.
Anyone have any great ideas for me?

Everyone is working natively with these files in all editing applications?

Well I am. Using a "amateur" editing system, as my former freinds call it. Adobe Premier CS3 and CS4.
Panasonic makes some software to convert AVCHD files to P2 files because most editing systems operate with it today - even amateur systems....

Is anyone using or familiar with FIRESTORE DV FILE CONVERTER PRO?

Cineform's NeoHD will do it. But it is not free.

Best editing software for P2 is EDIUS (from Canopus). It will crop, delete, rotate, etc ..... and convert P2 to AVI for you (in realtime).

Point of clarification though -- you'd need EDIUS Pro for working with P2 files. The light version, EDIUS Neo, doesn't work with P2; it's for DV, HDV and AVCHD. EDIUS Pro (currently version 5.5) supports all those plus P2, XDCAM and other formats.

EDIUS Pro supports all flavors of P2 including AVC-Intra, natively, right off the card.
