Panasonic AJ-PCS060G upgrade?
Just wondering if the Panasonic AJ-PCS060G can be upgraded to a bigger HD?
If so, how easy is it to do? It is sealed up good and proper? Thanks in advance |
Re: Panasonic AJ-PCS060G upgrade?
Yes I would like to know this too as you can pick them up for reasonable cost now, I suspect you should be able to but of course any warranty on a new unit from e-bay may be then invalid.
Looking at the pics on this advert there looks like four screws hold the case together, the hard drive should be just a 2.5 inch esata device but the problem may be that the firmware does not support larger drives or will not work with larger than 4gb P2 cards or AVC Intra. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Panasonic-...ht_4069wt_1165 |
Re: Panasonic AJ-PCS060G upgrade?
Hi guys:
There is a reason you can buy these cheap, they are totally outdated as far as HD size and no, the drive in them cannot be upgraded because of firmware and driver issues. Not going to happen. Dan |

Re: Panasonic AJ-PCS060G upgrade?
A couple of guys bought one years ago and tried to take it apart, reverse engineer it and could not even come close to making it work. I am not a computer geek but it was something about the ROM and controlling/flashing any other drive, other than the 60GB one that Panasonic equipped the device with.
FWIW, I was one of the first to use that device in the field on a TV show pilot, How To Shoot a Network TV Pilot With the Panasonic HVX-200 with a huge volume of P2 cards coming at it and even with that 60GB drive, the device was really slow and really clunky so good riddance that it was supplanted with newer more modern P2 solutions.
