Is the P2 Store Mac compatable?

I noticed on the P2 Info site that the P2 Store was only compatable with Windows 2k and XP. Are there plans to make it Mac compatable? It seems that if it's a hard drive with a USB connection, it should work since Macs can mount pretty much anything.

(Apologies if this question was already posted, but I didn't see anything in the search...)

Good Question

Matt,

I'm wondering the same, and to date your post has had 141 views without an answer - not encouraging, because usually you'd have one or two replies by the 20th to 30th view (at least).

This text is directly from the HVX200 on-line brochure that you can get on Panasonic's site:

- - -
"In developing DVCPRO and P2 products, Panasonic worked in collaboration with a number of strategic IT partners. The results are
products that offer maximum compatibility with existing hardware and software, including IT-based system platforms and non-linear editors and
network servers.
The P2 (DVCPRO, DVCPRO50) system is supported by 15 of the industry's leading manufacturers and suppliers of non-linear editors and
network servers (as of April 2005).
The DVCPRO HD format is supported by Apple, Avid and Canopus. Using non-linear editing systems from these three leading companies, you can
produce HD videos from DVCPRO HD native files."

It says P2 is supported by 15...non-linear editors.
It says DVCPRO HD is supported by Apple.
BUT, it does not say P2 is supported by Apple.

In searching these forums I found this thread started by Sergio back in August - with some discouraging answers from Jan at Panasonic.

If I find anything else, I'll drop it in this thread.

Thanks for the reply, Derek.

After reading that thread, I think it's pretty safe to say the P2 store will work. Having the p2 cards mount directly on a mac would be nice, but I would rather have a "no-BS", sturdy, file-dumpster like the P2 Store on set than a comparatively flimsey laptop. Worth the the extra $$ in my opinion.
