1080p feature not so popular?
 

Hello there, i've seen a lot of people talking about 720p mode, but nobody seems
want to use 1080p. Perhaps for 2x8Gb P2 cards that can record only 16 minutes is not funny for now, but I believed who's buying this camera hope to shot in 1080p!
Anyone did see "Sony Fx-1" + "Guerilla35" adapter? I know Sony has much "vivid" color, but I'm thinking about "Hvx200 1080p" + "Guerilla35" could match this quality?

Sorry, Danilo, I was was looking through your subject downloads and got half way down to where the girl in front of the white wall was and..uh...um... what was your question, again?

Two questions:

1)I've seen much discussion about 720p of Hvx200, so it seems 1080p is not desidered so much :( probably because we now can't record much in this quality.

2) I've seen those gorgeous videos made by MacGregor, it has an adaptor that coming out in december (made by Jonathan Houser), to match Hvx-200, I'm only speculating about quality of colorimetry of Hvx200, based on Dvx100 it has much
"darker" colours than Hdv Sony Fx-1 or Z1.

The B/W video is incredible, the photography is amazing, gray scale is amazing!

Hey, Danilo, just being goofy. Women do that to me...my wife especially. I totally understood your question.
Personally I think when you get to a certain level there's a a subliminal trigger that says, "Okay, this looks good enough" and you're convinced you could be looking at film.
I've seen this with both 720 and 1080.
The color space of HD over DV is one of the things that really helps as well.
I think we can get to a point aesthetically, where the video-like qualities of video are diminished to the point of near invisibility, as is the case with these clips.
I think these were shot in either CF24 or a PAL CF25, I'm not savvy enough on the Sony cameras to know whether it was 1080 or 720.
In short I don't necessarily think 1080 is necessary to make images look as nice as these clips.
I've seen stuff shot on the DVX, XL2 with the G35 that look awesome to be honest.
I guess in short, I'm saying the HVX will easily be able to achieve the level of quality these clips have, i.e. color space, resolution, etc...
But like all tools, it's the operator who really makes the difference.

The videos of Macgregor genius were shot on Fx1 pal, C25 in 1080i then deinterlacced.
I really like Sony Hd colour space with this adapter. So d'you think we can make that colorimetry of Hvx200 and emulate Sony colours thanks to Hd colour space? It's Hd colour space that makes those miracles? So vivid? I hope i can make similar vivid colours with Hvx200:)

Yeah, they're genius all right!
He got a couple chicks to get naked for the sake of "art". That's not an easy task, even with a bunch of cash... not that I would know.
The simple answer to your question is yes, the HVX will perform as well if not better than the FX1 with the G35, especially in color space. To quote George Zimmer, "I guarantee it". So get your checkbook ready.

And to further build up on that, I just bought the American Cinematographer 1987 issue that discusses Full Metal Jacket. It turns out the movie was shot on video using a primitive version of a 35mm adapter.

All the magic hour stuff was done in post.

One day, you will have "Jonathan Houser" googled and your post will be a mark in the "History of the Moving Image", too. Who knows? :) Or maybe(?), it's better to say...in the "History of Cinema"... :) Congrats Bill and to Jonathan!...for sure. We live strange days but, above all, history and interesting hours, indeed!

well, the 1987 American cinematographer thing was a nice touch..not really wasted time when compared to watching macgregor's pseudo porn (although I have to say that it nicely shows off the G35 unit--I just wish I didn't feel so dirty now)
