I have some MXF files. Which program will play?

Ok, my question is very simple.
My friend send me 6GB MXF files from HVX200 camcorder card.
The whole directory structure is here: (audio, clip, icon, proxy, video, voice)
And there is a p2viewer.exe program, but when i run it under xp sp2 it says, i need a panasonic p2 driver. I search with google, but the driver ask me the serial numbers of the card. What can i do?
Is there a free MXF player somewhere?

thank you
Marton

The demo version of DVFilm Maker (which is free) will play back
MXF files, sans audio. http://dvfilm.com/maker
The Panasonic drivers are not required.

You can also install Raylight and convert the MXF files to Raylight
AVI, and then they will play back in Windows Media Player.

What's wrong?
Should i change the settings?

Whoa! That looks bad :-o

I need the MXF file, please email support@dvfilm.com for an upload link.

Also make sure you have a Pentium 4 or AMD 64 compatible
processor, see http://dvfilm.com/raylight/raylightHelp.htm#doc

Not sure if Maker warns you about that yet.

Yes, that's it. Sorry, we are going to add support for older
processors in a reduced speed mode but it's not done yet.
The DVCPROHD codec built into DVFilm Maker (the Raylight
codec) depends on the Pentium 4 instruction set which means
you must have Pentium Extreme, Pentium D, Pentium 4, Celeron,
Celeron D, AMD Opteron, or Athlon 64 processors.

HD Log can be used for P2 viewing on a Macintosh

An option for viewing MXF files on P2 media (or copies of P2 media on your hard drive) is HD Log which is available for Mac OS X. It's actually a logging and media management tool, so some people might consider it overkill for simply viewing P2 media, however, if you use it for viewing and logging and editing metadata, it's pretty cool.

I used HD Log this week on a four day documentary shoot in which we went through 51 P2 Card loads, I was responsible for media management and this application made it quick and easy to view clips on a Powerbook we used on the set for ingest, viewing, and archiving. The import feature is very fast, it does not do any media conversion unless you choose to export the log file you create afterwards. You can export your media in a variety of formats, for example, to create small proxies. It can save XML documents for direct import into Final Cut Pro, as well as files in a wide range of formats that can be read by many editing systems. Very handy for editing the metadata and changing the user clip names to something human readable.

There aren't many options for Mac users right now, and import into FCP takes time and a silly thing to do if all you want to do is view and log your P2 media on the set. I hope we'll see a Macintosh version of Panasonic's P2 viewer coming soon, maybe Panasonic could bundle an HD Log Lite version.
